DIRECTOR’S NOTE
In the 18th century, Thomas Hobbes said, “Man is a wolf to man,” this natural consideration linked to the essence of human beings, in their constant struggle against one another, has, in many moments of Colombian history, taken on connotations of a pack. The 80s were the years of growth, boom, and consolidation of the entire paramilitary network in Colombia. Very few populations were spared from this scourge. This is the backdrop against which our story unfolds: THE TRAIL. Beyond the local circumstances that made it possible for certain human beings to resort to barbarism to achieve their goals in this context, the central idea of the proposal is to bring to the screens the impact of violence on the lives of ordinary citizens, leveraging the suspense and thriller potential of the story. We work on the audience’s interest in the thriller, a genre that I have already explored in the past (La Historia del Baúl Rosado, Ramoncho), placing it in a context that allows us to speak about violence as a generator of hierarchies and relationships, from a genre that is attractive to the audience and that allows us to reflect on the circumstances that led some human beings to overpower others and sow misery and barbarism to satisfy economic interests.
