SYNOPSIS

Angela Rojas, a police officer trapped by debt and harassed by Ferrer, her corrupt superior, finds an unexpected ally in patrolman Daniel Diaz.

Faced with Ferrer’s abuses, Angela and Daniel are plunged into a dangerous revenge that forces them to commit a crime from which they cannot escape.

As they struggle to hide the truth, the complicity between Angela and Daniel reopens wounds from the past, confronting them with their own shadows and decisions that will change their destinies forever.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I CALL THEM SOULS is the story of two policeman who surrounded by different circumstances, end up falling into a spiral that will lead them to destruction. The main attraction of the project is the possibility of accessing the underworld that hides in the bowels of the police, with the night city as a backdrop. Doing thriller in a context that relativizes heroes and villains and exposes the dirty and motley in the midst of what should be reliable and regulated.

This darkness through which the story passes allows working the atmosphere in light and dark, portraying the psychological fragility of the characters through unstable framing, exacerbating the emotions with the help of sound and music; dwell on the violence of the city, not only from the gesture of killing and dying, but from the colorful, chaotic, rich and vibrant that can be framed within the kitch aesthetic and the brightness of primary colors, mixed with the rough textures of the moldy, rickety and chaotic. Presence of light, color and music in the foreground, seeking to build a universe where desire, sexual and emotional frustration build a Bogota that we do not know.

I CALL THEM SOULS is an audiovisual proposal that seeks to take the viewer out of his comfort place and generates a critical look that leads him to take nothing for granted, to question the dark side of the heroes and the bright side of the villains.

DIRECTOR: LIBIA STELLA GÓMEZ

Libia Stella Gómez Díaz is a film and television filmmaker, Master in Theory and History of Art and Architecture and PhD candidate in the Doctorate of Art and Architecture at the National University of Colombia.

Director of El Rastro, a crime thriller to be released in 2024. Writer and director of Un Tal Alonso Quijano, fiction feature film released digitally in 2021, which reached more than 500,000 viewers. Writer and director of Ella, released in theaters in 2015 and with which she won the title of Best Director at the Kolkatta International Film Festival in India in November 2015, among other awards. Researcher and director of the feature documentary The Emperor’s New Clothes, distributed on digital platforms in 2014.

Researcher and director of the feature documentary Arista son, released in September 2011. Writer and director of La historia del baúl rosado, a film released in theaters in November 2005, with which she obtained, among others, the Ibermedia incentives for Development and Co-production. Editor invited by the Cinemateca de Bogotá to coordinate the publication Cuadernos de Cine Colombiano on directing actors, to be launched at the Cartagena International Film Festival 2024.

DANIEL: JOSE RESTREPO

Jose Restrepo is a Colombian film, theater and television actor, recognized for his participation in the films Malcriados, El man del porno and in the television series Metástasis, Narcos and the recent film Los Iniciados.

In his youth, Restrepo moved to Mexico to study acting. There he worked mainly in theater, returning to Colombia a few years later. In his native country he began to appear mainly in television series, including Niñas mal (2010), El laberinto (2012), Laura, la santa colombiana (2015).

The actor has also performed in film, appearing in the movies Apatía, una película de carretera (2012), Tr3s días (2017), and Una Madre (2020).

In 2016 he obtained a nomination to the Macondo Awards in the category of best supporting actor for his participation in the movie Malcriados. And in 2023 he was nominated again at the Macondo Awards in the category of best leading actor for his participation in Una Madre.

FERRER: RAFAEL ZEA

Rafael Orlando Zea Márquez is a Colombian theater, television and film actor, well known for playing the character of “Michael Giovanny Santos” in the renowned Colombian soap opera, El man es Germán and “Alejandro Mallarino” in Polvo Carnavalero.

He began his career in television in 2010, after a long career in the theatrical world, in the renowned Colombian telenovela El man es Germán (2010-2012) (2019) playing the character “Michael Giovanny Santos” of Canal RCN, for which he won the award in the category “Best new actor” in 2017 and the India Catalina award for “Best supporting actor in telenovela or series” in 2020.

His career as a theater actor counts with more than 15 years, starting in 2002 with El Aniversario and El Más Extraño Idilio, his latest participations have been in the wonderful plays La parábola del insulto, Sinfonía de Narices and Los Bonobos.

ANGELA: ANA GONZALEZ

Ana González is a Colombian actress with a passion for the performing and audiovisual arts.

She has worked as an actress with different national and international companies such as CARACOL TV, RCN TELEVISIÓN, RTVC, AMAZON, HBO, SONY and FOX.

In her career as a teacher in Performing Arts she has found affinity with various fields of art and creation, such as voice-over, dubbing, writing, directing, film production, theater production and cultural management; fields in which she has performed considerable work for the growth of local culture.

She has been part of more than 10 plays such as El ausente, Fractales, Así ocurrió cuando los blancos no eran malos and Después de la ceniza. His debut as the protagonist of a feature film was with “I call them souls”.
