Matías, a wandering puppeteer, finds Luchito, a boy left mute after witnessing his family’s massacre. He takes him to Stella, a nurse in Las Acacias with whom he has an on and off relationship. Together, they try to protect him and heal his trauma through art and love. Stella bets on reason; Matías on imagination. But the killer is stalking them. When danger closes in, Matías devises a plan to save them, sacrificing himself so Luchito finds his voice and with Stella, escapes the threat.
